Hi everyone,

I'm pretty set on buying a set of MD Irons tonight, I'm just not sure which ones it'll be yet, it's out of three:

So far I'm thinking the Tungsten Ti Irons would be the best bet, and seem a steal at only £100. Would all of these clubs be suitable to a 16-18 handicapper?

Thanks in advance,
Steven

I have the Superstrong forged irons and must say that my game is finally starting to improve. I had Hippos before and there was no feedback from the club a poor shot felt the same as a good shot.

I think the MD Golf range are really good clubs  which give great feedback for a really reasonable price.

I went ahead and bought these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150259456484&_trksid=p2759.l1259

Not bad for £100. They're only about 20 miles away from me, so I'll save a further £20 by collecting them!

I really like the new CNC Milled, Forged head clubs at about £275 they seem a lot of Metal for your Money!

I cannot recommend the Tungsten Ti's highly enough.

I have had mine for just under a year and my scores keep getting better. I couldn't break 100 before I got them and shot my best ever round of 84 on Sunday at Quinta Do Lago South!

That's great to here! I played today for the first time in a long time. I shot 89 with about 5 pars which I though was ok considering the time I've been out.

I picked up my Tungsten Ti's tonight and I'll be playing tomorrow afternoon before work - can't wait to give them a go!

Go to the MD Golf Press page and you'll be able to see a few reviews of the clubs.

Pretty much my whole bag is MD at the moment:

MD EQL2 Driver, MD Gun Metal Superstrong Irons, Superstrong Cobalt Wedge and MD Drew Putter.

All of which i can not recommend highly enough

I have my eye on MD irons as a next step....

At first I liked the CNC milled irons, but they are starting to look a bit progressive with a fat top line....

Really looking to identify which are the elegant MD irons.

Any thoughts...

Whats your Handicap Ondai and what do you look for in iron?

Obviously a thinner top line? Less offset?

I play off ~20... I play with an old set of Titleist DCI Delta gold (~92)... My scoring is poor due to erratic T shots and super aggressive game i.e. Course Management worthy of an ASBO!

However ball striking is very good.... The current irons are quite thin on top....

What I look for in an Iron is something that feels good and looks good....

i Have a set of Original Superstrong Forged irons that someone can have for £50 and a fiver for postage. Got them off 9Iron a few weeks ago.

Just too short for me and don't want to go through the fitting for me process. In decent enough condition for 3/4 year old clubs

I would have a look at the Gun Metal Superstrongs, have a look on the MD golf website press reviews designed for the better ball striker.

http://www.mdgolf.co.uk/pr_tg_07_07_gunmetal_iron_test.html

They have a thinner top line than the rest of the range although i wouldnt say it was a thin top line but they dont look clunky either, the cavity doesnt look like a cave either and look pretty good at address.

One thing i would say if your bording on the reg/ stiff shafts, personally i would go with the stiffer shaft when buying the True Temper Release Plus.

They can be picked up for £150 new of ebay, so are an in-expensive compared to other premium irons.

I forgot to add, the bloke I bougt these from was a great guy! He said he could no longer play golf for the time being because of his back. Then, just as I was about to leave, he said "Wait a minute", ran upstairs and said "Seeing as you're just a young guy" and gave me a free MD wedge which he bought seperately. Checked the price when I got back and they're worth £50! They also have great raitings!

30 mins till tee of!

Are they the MD Norman Drew wedges?

They are indeed very good - going to get the 52* in them as i have  the 60* one and a the superstrong cobalt 52 and 56*

P.s. the irons i have are 3-Sw

I should be able to find the original thread which has a picture. selling to offset against a Ping Pal i bought last night.

I cannot recommend the Tungsten Ti's highly enough.

I second that opinion. These clubs are of a very high quality. A local pro has hit mine and he said they felt great. They are also very cheap - great value! I might be tempted by one of their woods soon as well.

Aces up: Thanks for that.... Looks like the MD GM Superstrongs's are favorite as the way forward. Interesting reading the review suggested that "if you have replaced the 3 iron with a hybrid these are not the club for you" as I have just retired the hybrid and reintroduced the 3 iron..

Steven: Similarly I have had good experiences and been shown great generosity by other Golfers.

I have a set of the original Superstrongs (Gunmetal) which I lent to the brother in law, can't get 'em back!

Very nice clubs, I preferred them to my Mizuno MP30s.

I am another massive fan of MD Golf. It's been good to see their rise over the last few years as more and more people talk so positively about them.

I've been using their Superstrong wedges and woods for over two years now, and I bought the Tungsten ti irons last year (for a lot more than £100!!). They are superb as a number of people have said. I've added about 20 yds per iron over my old John Letters irons too.

I can hit my Superstrong 3 wood further than my Benross driver, and the feeling I get when I pure one out of the middle is second-to-none - it just pings off the face like a rocket.

Their utility clubs are fantastic too. I bought two Equaliser utilities in a sale for £25 each and I can't imagine finding better for less than £100.
