hi all

After much testing i have managed to buy the 3,5 & 7 wood Cobra LD F fairwoods at a very good price,, £70 each brand new from a online store and for the price they are amazing, tried loads of different make's but hit these the best. They are very long and the 3 wood is only 20yds short of my callaway fti driver. The 7 wood is also amazing and much easier to use than my rescue club, its great off the tee and fairway plus i can hit it over 200 yds.

I did buy a fti squareway but to be honest it was shocking so managed to sell it for the same price i bought it for.I then went and tried loads of different clubs at my local range before buying these.

I must say that they are a make of club i have never really looked at before as i normally stick to mizuno, taylormade and callaway products, but was told to give them a go.

After all my testing i must say that you really do need to check all makes before buying as you could be spending lots of hard earned money on something thats just not good .just because its a big name, its not always going to be the best

I personally would class Cobra as a 'big' name. They are part of Acushnet which owns Titleist and Footjoy. It is just another way of selling different clubs without having Titleist on them.

I'm not saying cobra is a small name just that its a make i haven't really looked at before.

Just saying that all make's should be considered as i tryed some smaller name brands(MB,Benross etc) that were right up there with the bigger brands ie taylormade, cobra, callaway etc

Couldn't agree more. Probably the best / easiest recovery I have is a Slazenger. I play a Nike Tour or TM ahead of it, probably out of golf snobbery.

I go round in the low 90's and do hit a far longer ( yes and straighter) wood than my standerd suggests , I.E my iron play relatively sucks .

I know almost every golfer has an ' I hit my driver x yards ' story so I wont quote yards but I only hit a 3 wood off the T and my cobra f speed 3 wood usually out 'drives' those I play with who are without a doubt far far better golfers than I am and hitting drivers. Admitedly I do hit my woods very low indeed but the golf pro says right on stick to that avoid the wind.

My dad who is 72 and plays off of 9 handicap and chatting he recently told me he now swears by his 7 and nine woods. As a result I have just purchased a 7 wood Cobra F speed LD and I have to say it is a right result for me. It requires almost the same

' wood swing' as the 3 and I hit if far better than a mid iron and I am now thinking mmm forget utility what about a 9 wood. Sadly on research I cant get a mens 9 wood LD as they are not as fashionable as their wood equivelent. I'm looking at another reasonable quality 9 wood 2nd hand to experiment with.

I dont think clubs are a cure all but I do think trying different equipment is one of the enjoyable parts of the game.

Anyway my vote goes out to LD woods and not out of blind loyalty , they just really do perform for me, would love a 9

Cheers  Mas

Hi Mas

You can get a 9 wood LD but its a seniors M/Speed Offset design available in 3, 5, 7 and 9, you would have to get a new shaft fitted to suit your swing speed

Indeed , I have of course seen the seniors ones being a Cobra fan but my swing wouldnt suit you are quite right. Im 43 but am years off of a ' seniors swing '

I dont think im good enough for custom clubs yet hehehehe.

Just buy a shaft similar to the ld f spec, get somthing similar from ebay etc and get your pro to fit it easy
