Glenn - Just curious, but have you or your son ever been on a golf course? Have you yourself ever played a stroke of golf? You were very eager to know where to get a Rules Book, but it does not seem that you know anything about the game?

no ive never played a game of golf yes ive been on a golf coarse years ago when i walked home from fishing one day yes ive played crazy golf but weve already told you that to me you just get a golf ball and club and belt f-ck out of it and see ho can get round in the least shots where it land you play it from except in water where youve got to take it back nearer the starting place but yes im learning from all these forums thats why the first port of call for my son is coaching lessons

The numbers on the balls relate to how much they spin and how far they travel. Odd numbered balls spin less and go further, even numbered balls spin more and stop quicker. So if you were playing into the wind you should use an odd numbered ball for your drive. For your approach to the green you may need more spin, so switch to an even numbered ball (you are allowed to clean your ball and improve your lie when you do this). Good luck!

Thanks 'Arry, I've been playing the game for years and didn't know this. Perhaps with this new found knowledge I can think about turning pro.

Now boys, play nicely! Glenn, the numbers don't mean anything at all. All they are for is to identify the ball if two people are playing with the same ball (eg titleist). You say that your son bought a glove for £2.50. Is it the right size (it should be as tight as comfort allows!) otherwise it's nigh on useless - in reality you don't need a glove (I don't wear one). As for the balls, you were paying £2 each? Are they new balls? What type are they? If you have a sportsworld/Sports Soccer/Direct Sport shop near you you can get a perfectly acceptable 2 piece ball (Dunlop Loco) for £8 for 30. I started with them and they're fine for beginners (mainly because you don't feel like someone's lopped a part of you off everytime one disappears into the ether - mine did that quite a lot to begin with!) some one must be reading this thread he said he hadn't of seen so many golf sets
Which roughly translated into English via Traditional Chinese comes out as:
Some one must read this thread, he said he had not seen so many sets of golf Or maybe it makes more sense left in Chinese? 一些一,必須讀,這線程他說,他已經沒有見過這麼多的高爾夫球套 Are you trying to imply that people have read this forum and taken their old clubs to sell at a car boot? I cant understand half or your posts!

My appologies Glenn. I may be a teacher, but obviously I can't read properly! £2.00 per club isn't bad at all!
|

Harry is dead right. Get a ball with a 6 on it, set it in motion. After half a turn the 6 becomes a 9 which is half as many again. This extra weight pulls the ball downwards. Thus you get extra roll and distance from a no.6 ball. Nos 1 & 8 are perfectly even whichever way you look at them therefore they will spin more. I thought everybody knew that!!
