been looking at the portable nets you can get to put up in the garden and swing into. Do you think it can actually improve your game even though you dont know where the ball is going?

I guess we all know when we have hit a decent shot, however as far as the garden is concerned its the divots that cause the problem! So realistically you are on a mat, and have to deal with those limitations...

I had a bash in the practice nets with my 7 iron before the club comp at the weekend, before teeing off and shot an 88, 3 under handicap! Haven't done so before and have been nowhere near that.

Think it's good for loosing up or a bit of practice, but wouldn't put it ahead of the range.

If you've got the room for it, do it! Have you never heard the line, "He who dies with the most golfing gadgets wins!"?

I agree with bratty.....I think its a good idea for a warm up and to get the muscles working. Apart from that not much use. You cant tell if your slicing/hooking etc if you only hit it 2metres! As a warm up process I think its better than anything else.

If youre practicing pure swing mechanics then yes it will pay dividends, as it obviously doesnt matter where the ball goes, when you get a good smooth, consistent, reliable swing, that's when seeing where the ball goes is essential.
