In a couple of hours I'll be teeing off in our clubs matchplay champ semi final. I'm usually quite calm when going into a match or any big comp, but today I feel like a big bag of nerves! I've been trying to get my body loosened up and relaxed all morning whilst trying to work too! I can't wait until its over!!!

Sorry missed this one - hope you won!

win or loose, a semi final at 1 of 4000 clubs in the uk, put it in perspective its not that big a deal. ps this applies to the final if you win

Of course it's a big deal - maybe too late to give advice but the art is to be able to keep the adrenalin up to yer neck but not over yer head. You need the nervous anxiety to help you perform. Warm up well - this helps burn up some of the excess and spend time on your own putting for a few minutes - concentrate on the putts and nothing else until the tee time. .... then go do it

How did it go? Hope you won

I won! A very very strange match! I was 3 down at the turn and it could've been more had I not holed out a 50ft putt on the 8th for a birdie to win. I played the front 9 absolutely terrible and then played the back 9 a blinder, only dropping 2 shots before winning 2&1 on the 17th. The first hole I was up in the match was the 16th and we never halved a hole throughout the match. I'm so chuffed to get to the final!

Well done - feels great, doesn't it? Remember that lovely warm feeling to give you confidence for the final. Let us know when that is.

Well done. When did the nerves disappear?

Thanks a lot! I'm bouncing around at the moment. They disappeared after a few in the clubhouse! The finals on Sept 14th. I've actually got another semi final next week too in the mixed foursomes comp.

Just an update to let you know that I won the final on Sunday! Was probably the best day, weather wise, we'd had all year. Conditions were perfect, the greens were fantastic and my nerves were back! I started off terribly, duffing my first tee shot and ending losing the hole. On the 2nd short par 3, my opponent hit the green and I pulled mine into the left side bunker. I was about 30ft away, him about 15ft. I played out of the bunker and it looked like it was going to roll in but it hit the pin and stopped a couple of foot past. He knocked his past the hole but within mine, I managed to sink the putt and he missed! Then we were pretty even up until the 8th where I won the next 4 holes in a row, with my short game absolutely fantastic. I ended up winning 3&2 on the 16th and have my name up on the honours board in the clubhouse for a 2nd time in 2 weeks (won a fourball honours board medal comp 2 Sundays ago). Am happier than Larry.
