Forged irons, can't beat 'em...Mizuno, you have done it again!

I changed to some mizuno pro 11's last year and have been really pleased with their reliability, feel and consistancy in terms of performance and yardage. I had read many articles in magazines which said you can't tell the difference between forged and cast irons however after twelve months I would say you definitley can. Hope you continue to enjoy your new clubs Alan.

Is the Comp EZ forgiving enough for a 23 handicapper?

Comp CT's might be better - larger head - more offset

I tried the comp CT irons, and I liked them. Someone suggested that I should try the Comp EZ before buying the CT's. I play off 18(ish), so if that advice was aimed at me, it might suggest that the EZ's would be OK for a 23 handicap? I'm not sure what the difference between the two is though.

I don't think there is a lot Alex, Mizuno grade them both as improver type irons, suitable pretty much across the handicap spectrum. I had a very offset, large headed, beginners type iron prior to the EZ's but the EZ's are just as forgiving. A friend has got the CT's and the head looks more chunky and forgiving - though I doubt that it is. The appearance of the heads when compared, however, is no contest - the finish on the EZ's is pure quality - I like nice things. If it feels good buy it.

Another thing, that Ted might know more about, is the CT come with TT Release shafts and the EZ come with TT Gold Plus Sensicore.
What that means, I think, is that the Release have a lower kick point, to enable you to get the ball in the air easier. Once again though, the one thing that impresses me about the EZ's is the height you get - without a sacrifice in distance.
You pays your money and you takes your choice.

I hate to say that I really wouldn't be able to help you much there. I haven't hit the Mizunos enough to talk about them...or either of the shafts that you mention! haha! I'm sure Martin has...?

Alan, I do agree with you that the EZ looks greats. Beats the CT hands down.

I think the main difference is that the EZ is forged and the CT is cast (cheaper???).

I just now tried the EZ with GoldPlus Sensicore at the shop. Feels ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS.....

I just got my set of irons. Tried them twice at the range but have not had a chance to go to the greens yet.

I have been using graphite for 3 years. This is the first time I am using steel shafts. So I am not hitting them really well yet. (I was told that it takes 3 weeks to get used to a new set! True?)

Feel: Definitely feels very very solid. Even on off centre hit, there is little vibration.

Distance: Pleasantly surprised by the distance when I hit the sweet spot. I used to hit 130 m with my 7 iron. But the mizuno reach 150 metres (when sweetspot is struck). Average distance is about 5% more than my previous set.

Accuracy: Straight. No problems here.

Trajectory: seems to be lower than my previous set. Could this be due to steel vs graphite??

Verdict : Recommended. But don't expect your game to improve immediately. (hopefully in 3 weeks' time though!!!)

I went through a bit of a rough patch (golfwise) earlier in the year but knew it was me and not the clubs. Now, having let the clubs teach me where the sweetspot is, I'm starting to play some of my best golf from tee to green.
If I can just get my putting sorted, I feel a handicap cut coming shortly.
I can assure you that the EZ's are worth every dollar you spent.
