How to win open events!

Chippenham GC have kindly provided an on line certificate so you can make your own up! But remove the last sentence!

Dead handy for Open Events with nice prizes or getting on courses in Portugal that demand to see your certificate!

Not that I am suggesting anything of the sort!

It's very easy to knock up a genuine looking h'cap certificate - just scan an original, edit it via readily available (and free) graphics software, and print via a bog standard home office printer.

I know somebody who did this for a golf trip to Portugal, although in fairness he would be a 14 h'capper if he was a club member, so he wasn't getting on a top course under false pretences.

The AGU been commenced initiating sposored national computor register 'Golf Link' of all club members & h/caps 5 years ago

Not all clubs yet on line but intended to cover every golf club/member in Oz enable club & member check games played current H/cap details etc etc

Could help nab cheats if installed in UK & even perhaps attract sponsor dollars too

Idea of course makes accreditation by cert obsolete & details of away games will also be recorded by the club concerned

Pity they did not cover the slope idea too

Cannot understand why a standardised system hasn't been made compulsory for all clubs. The technology is there and it would be accessible to all - no need to carry a h'cap piece of paper, just tell the club visited your membership No. and up would come your details - complete with piccy.
