I took an Odyssey "2 Ball" out on the course last night, canned the first three putts I had! (one bird, one sand save and a reg up & down) Nailed two more of silly length! Playing in a Society tomorrow and will try again! Pro wants it back in the shop on Saturday AM or the £££! Once I hand over the £££ will the magic work?? I wonder!

If that giant lump of ugly steel doesnt keep working get a scotty cameron, they are vastly better. And a bonus is that it doesnt take up 95% of the space in your bag!

Spotted the "odd ball" for £115 at Costco, Reading along with 40 toilet rolls for £12. Bargins.

I bought one for my son and he seems to love it, although he does say the ball flies off the face at a rapid speed. he wonder how the pro's control it on super fast greens. I have stolen it for a couple of rounds and it does seem bad. What sort of ball are you using with it - hard surface or soft

It doesn't seem bad - I must learnt to type but I am too busy playing golf

ProV1's...feel really good off the "insert." Theo has a point, it's an odd looking lump, but wow, its really good to putt with! Played a Soc at Newbury & Crookham on Friday and holed loads! Trouble is, the rest of my game was awful!

Ian, what did you think of Newbury and Crookham?

Really nice. Very short by modern standards at under 6000, but par 69 so no push over. Some excellent par 3's, some of the short par 4s are tight, a couple of longish 4's (8th is a belter) Excellent greens, smashing people...well worth a visit. Our Soc is rebooking for next year!

Thanks Ian. Although It's only 10 mins from my office I've never played there and all the locals seem to play at either Parasampia or Donnington Valley. Based on your thumbs up I'll try and get a round in there by the end of summer.

I bought the 2 ball about a month ago and it works better than great for shorter distances, but requires some additional "skills" for the longer puts - I guess that I just have to keep the putting distances down by investing in a new wedge???? - that or practice ht eshort game a bit more.. :-)
The only down side - the funny looks and questions you get about the putter - someone thought it was from out of space...

I tried the putter out at the weekend. I was impressed i sank 18 of 20 putts from 10ft and in. Considering I find 2 putting an achievement I was shocked.

I didn't buy the putter though (money being one thing) as I wondered if American golf discount had a putting surface which leads the ball to the hole and the holes did seem wider. I want to try it on another service before parting with my money.

My club (Bowood) let me "borrow one" for three days or so to make my mind up! The price of £139 also beat many of the advertisers! Well done lads! ..."those who know, buy from their Pro" as Peter Alliss always says!

I have enough problems trying to line up one ball with the cup! how the hell am I going line up three?
Show/hide user stats
Have a guess Vic....much easier seeing the 3 in a line! I loved Chris' point about a golf shop having a "rigged" putting mat to make the putter seem better! If it isnt true, it should be!

...those who know buy from their pro" - I shall be taking this advice in future having
been given the run around by a chap called Bob from Nevada.

"Bob" from Nevada also works in a store in Swindon. What ever you ask the answer is, "Yeah! great club/ball/jumper, got one meeself, it took 3 shots off me round!"

Cough!

I know him - he works at Liverpool St too. I went to see him, and he was serving a woman, who was buying a bag for her husband, in the most sycophantic way possible:

"He won't be disappointed, how could he be? And not by the bag either" [puke] "If he wants an exchange, jsut come to me. We can exchnage the bag, too" [retch]

You get the picture. I left without buying, and fled to the anonymous sanity of Lillywhites.

I rest my case. Lets run him out of town.

I have decided to deprive my son of his. I have been out on the practise green and the crowds gathered. On a more serious note a lot of outs were liping out and I know that's about speed and tempo but it always with the PRO V1.

I have just purchased one of them, I bit the bullet as my putter is getting on a bit now.......I am going to practice tonight so I will let you know how it feels
