Swing Zone initiative

A novel way of having your golf swing analysed has been launched by The Golf Vine, the online golf community that provides its members with a range of benefits, including course and holiday discounts and a free newsletter and magazine subscription.

swing analysis

Joining the site offers access to the Swing Zone, sponsored by Nokia N series, allowing users to submit video clips of their golf swings from camera or mobile phone ( tips are provided) then have them analysed by PGA pros. The cost is usually £25 but Golfmagic members, who submit the special code (GM01) are currently being offered a £5 discount.

Using state-of-the-art motion software made available in a 'mediabook' format your analysis is returned within five working days. Itallows the golfer to play back the annotated clip, view key positions of the swing together with the pro’s comments and even print out still images. You are also sent a link to your own private area of the site where you can view the feedback as often as you like.

Paul Vines, managing partner of The Golf Vine, sees the Swing Zone as a revolution in online coaching.

“Swing Zone makes use of recent advances in digital video technology and motion analysis software to provide a practical and cost-effective way of receiving golf lessons from top PGA coaches.

"Too often we only remember one of the points from a golf lesson. The Swing Zone allows you a constant reminder on your PC of all the coaching points within a takeaway video clip. It allows golfers to get a second opinion from someone other than their regular coach.

Says Simon Holmes: “The Swing Zone can be employed to provide everything from basic analysis to online lessons with personalised instructions and drills that will constantly improve your game.”

Chris Hamblin's swing zone sequence

The unofficial launch of the Swing Zone took place at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth when over 860 golfers’ swings were captured on video and and claimed a free swing analysis.

Among them was Chris Hamblin from Kingston, Surrey who won a competition on Golfmagic to receive VIP hospitality at the final day of the event, courtesy of The Golf Vine and Nokia.

Said Chris: " It was brilliant day out and to have my swing video-ed and analysed was a real bonus. I learned a lot from it."

Winners of our recent Viobotics competition were: Al Flynn, Cardiff; Adrian Miller, London; Jane Buckle, Walton on Thames; Calum Hirtle, Ashton under Lyne; John Perry, Mattishall, Norfolk.
