Trophy winner Chris Biggs.

Chris Biggs, will be ‘dining out’ for months on his 5-wood approach shot to the 414-yard par-4 16th hole at Gainsborough Golf Club’s Karsten Lakes.

The ball carried nearly 200 yards, avoiding greenside bunkers and penal rough to roll up to and into the hole for an eagle two and five stableford points.

The shot proved conclusive as the 45-year-old 12-handicapper from Cosby, Leicestershire amassed 38 points to beat Marc Gledhill (20 h’cap) from Halifax by one point and win yesterday’s Golfmagic Golf Day.

Third place went to 10-handicap Nadeem Syed from Trent Park GC, London, with 36 points and fourth to former winner Andrei Szakalo (13) from Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Chris, who only joined the Golfmagic site a month ago, took a break from his work in IT to join 22 Golfmagic members in sunny and fine conditions, with a stiff breeze making scoring tricky.

He said: "It was just one of those shots we can all have at times. Luckily for me it went in.

"It was a most enjoyable day with good company and great weather. I’ve only been a member for a month but I saw the day advertised and thought I’d give it a go. I’m glad I did.

The event was expertly organised by Paul Hodgson from Leeds and Golfmagic is also grateful to TaylorMade/Maxfli for part-sponsoring the prizes.
