American swing coach Sean Foley has blasted the world’s media for ‘tearing down’ his client Tiger Woods.
Foley, who began working with Woods at the 2010 US PGA Championship, believes the media’s coverage of the 14-time major champion, both on and off the course, has gotten out of hand and should stop.
“I know everyone has a job to do, and I get it,” said Foley, in an interview with Sirius XM for the PGA Tour.
“But if it’s about the game of golf, Tiger is an extremely important part of the game and I think everyone understands that.
“It has just gotten to the point where the tearing down of Tiger as a person and a golfer has become just too much. I think it’s out of hand.
“I realise it’s 2012 and we have dotcoms, and you have to write five articles a day, and you r un out of things to write about, but we should be in a position where we were are trying to help and lift up and support a player like Tiger Woods, instead of tearing him down.
“Everyone in the golf industry is better off because of his existence. That is basically one thing I want to get out.
“Tiger is a wonderful person, a good dude and lives a complex life. I think things have got to slow down, it has got to stop, the daily referendums and the criticism.”
So we should just let his little strop at the par-3 16th at The Masters and his highest finish in a major as a pro go unnoticed then, Sean? Oh, and the fact he hasn’t won a major for nearly four years.
Former American Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger - one of numerous former players to have criticised the former five-year World No.1 - certainly made his feelings known when calling Woods ‘an embarrassment to the game’ following his on-course outburst at Augusta National.
Has criticism of Woods really gotten out of hand?

Has criticism of Tiger Woods really gotten out of hand in 2012?

I'd be quite happy if they stopped talking about him at all

“Tiger is a wonderful person, a good dude and lives a complex life"
Yeah course he is, that`s why he cheated on his Wife and family with hookers and cheap tarts.
I don't think I would have played it any differant than him, well maybe not the waitress on the blob bit and she wasn't a looker. But what's the point in being as rich as a rockstar and not acting like one.

thing is , if people weren't speaking about him (good or bad) then he'd soon be forgot about ....
it's a shame perhaps people want to talk about him if only to keep his now shallow profile up - Ewen Murray still loves him
