In the Bag: Thongchai Jaidee

THONGCHAI JAIDEE clinched his sixth European Tour title following playoff glory at the Nordea Masters.

The 44-year-old Thai carded a closing 65 at PGA Sweden National to post the clubhouse target of 16-under before edging Victor Dubuisson and Stephen Gallacher at the first extra hole.

On the first trip back down the 18th, Jaidee spun his third shot to 3-feet and, after seeing Dubuisson and Gallacher miss lengthy birdie putts, converted his birdie putt to seal the win.

“I worked hard today,” said Jaidee. “I started with three birdies in a row, had another one on six, then a good comeback on 11 [where he made an eagle three].

“We were nervous the last few holes - 16, 17 and 18 are tough holes – but 16 under was good enough for a play-off.

“The golf course is wide open, you have to hit good golf shots and the weather helped a little bit.”

Jaidee trusted a host of Titleist equipment for his success in Sweden including Titleist Pro V1x golf ball, 913D3 driver, 913F fairway metal, AP2 714 irons, Vokey Design SM5 approach, sand and lob wedges, and a Scotty Cameron Fastback putter.
