McDowell back inside World Top 20 after first win with Cleveland Srixon
Ulsterman staffer ready to earn his stripes in 2013
Graeme McDowell has vaulted back inside the world’s top-20 after landing his second World Challenge title in three years - and his first since switching to Cleveland/Srixon from Callaway.
McDowell fiinished three clear in the Tiger Woods-hosted event at Sherwood Country Club, a win which bumps the 2010 US Open champion up ten places to World No.14.
However, the Ulsterman is now taking ten weeks off to rest and spend time with his new fiancée, interior designer Kristin Stape, and might not be in the same position when he next comes to hit a competitive shot.
“These ten weeks are huge for me really just from a resetting and recharging my goals and getting ready for a big 2013,” said McDowell, who despite enduring a winless season on Tour managed to finish no worse than tied 12th in the majors.
“The game wasn’t giving me a huge amount this year and I’ve really got a lot to show for myself. You never deserve things in this game.
“You’ve just got to try and stay in there and keep doing it. It hasn’t really given me a lot of love this year but this will certainly give me something nice to think about in the off-season.”
McDowell was sporting a full set of Cleveland and Srixon equipment including the Classic driver, Launcher FL fairway, Srizon Z-TX 11 irons, 588 forged wedges and Z-Star XV ball.
