Three peg their hopes on new styles

Callaway Golf clothing
Callaway's v-neck in 'storm'.

Now that the UK's fickle spring weather is at least sorting itself out and we can get down to some serious golf on proper tees and greens and without the need for preferred lies, major brands are revealing their latest fashions.

For Callaway Golf it's a new range of lambswool sweaters; for Ashworth, which also supplies products for the Callaway brand, it's weather system tops and shirts and for the Ping Collection, it's a turtle-neck shirt aimed at a new generation of players.

Callaway's Spring/Summer sweaters are made from Scottish wool in either crew-neck or v-neck style (£45) in colours which include dark berry, storm, eggshell, sky, sundance, begonia and kelp.

There's also a lambswool slipover (£40) in Nelson blue or black. Sizes are small to XXL. Call 08701 666555 for your nearest stockist.

Stuart Appleby's six stroke victory in last week's Shell Houston Open brought into the spotlight Team Ashworth's latest AWS (Ashworth weather system) range, also worn by Fred Couples.

The range, which features polo shirts (£40), short-sleeve crew-necks (£29.99) and long-sleeve mocks (£39.99), as well as weather tops, has a three-layer system designed comfort when exposed to the elements - handling body moisture, thermal warmth and outer protection. All are available in kayak red, black and white.

Ping Collection introduces the Hawk short sleeve turtle neck to appeal to young golfers with its zip-neck and contrasting detail on collar and sleeves.

Made from a combination of cotton, polyester and lycra the shirts are available in turquoise/black, white/black, black/cayenne, lemon/black and cayenne/black with a recommended price of £30 in sizes from small to XXL.
