Ram Serbera cart bag in black/olive
|
I'm quite hard on golf bags - not in terms the words I pick to review them but in the way they're used as a work horse in all conditions. They don't call me a fair-weather golfer!
So I enthusiastically accepted the challenge of putting this new bag through its paces over the last couple of months and it has proved a sturdy mule in its black, green and silver livery and attracted admiring glances from golfing colleagues.
Made of lightweight nylon material and with a sturdy handle and cleverly hidden grab holder so it can be lifted in and out of a car boot with minimum fuss, it has 14 generous pockets. If only I could remember into which of them I'd put a) my car keys, b) my wallet and c) my Sharpie pen to identify my ball!
A neat touch are the ventilation holes to various pockets to help reduce those nasty niffs when we tend to leave wet waterproofs and golf gloves from the previous week's downpour.
With a Tour-bag size top (9.5 inches) and 14 full-length dividers I can even get more than the regulation number of clubs (usually between 15 and 21) comfortably into the bag! And that's useful when testing equipment, though the putter slot struggled when recently I reviewed the Pure Strike putter with a Jumbo-sized 2-thumb grip! It needed a twist and a tug to extricate it each time.
Though only a minor criticism, the traditional loop and slot provided for the umbrella are in the wrong place. When strapped to a trolley the brollie becomes trapped underneath and when the bag is attached to a golf buggy it's not easily accessible.

Summary: | However at under £90 - and I've seen them advertised cheaper on the net - Ram has done a good job with its stylish bag in helping to promote its burgeoning brand on Europe's courses, while providing a sturdy and protective home for the tools of our sport. |
