King Cobras - new and improved

With a head profile resembling one of those go-faster helmets worn by indoor track cyclists, Cobra is introducing new versions of its hugely successful King Cobra Speed LD range of drivers.

The latest 2008 Speed LD F (Fast) and M (moderate) drivers - top left and top right respectively - have been engineered to maximum-allowed length/width dimensions and feature an even lower centre of gravity and a higher MOI (resistance to twisting).

The key refinements include a fast-back crown slope for higher launch and greater distance, larger, sweeter face and frequency tuning for a different and more distinctive sound off the clubface.

The Speed LD F is designed for the fast-ball-speed player with square alignment to generate a high launch with a slight draw bias. The Speed LD M is for moderate-ball-speed players with a tendency to hit a fade or slice and is available in Straight Neck (SN) and Offset (OS) head designs as well as women's and senior versions.

Speed LD fairway metals have also been redesigned with a larger face.

The King Cobra Speed line-up will be introduced in March with an exhaustive series of demo days with a recommended price of £222 for the LD drivers and £140 for the LD Fairways.
