Model Golf back on your screens

John Daly, having golf's most powerful swing, and Phil Mickelson, having one of golf's most fluid swing motions, will be compared to their "ideal" model this weekend as Sky Sports Golf will give a brief insight to ModelGolf, the study of how a players swing could be better by matching it to their perfect swing.

Gary Koch from NBC, the host broadcasters, will front the three-minute vignette, entitled "Unlocking the Secrets of the Golf Swing."

This weekend marks the second of five consecutive NBC golf telecasts to feature ModelGolf technology.

Viewers will be encouraged to visit www.Golf.com where they could again see the segment, as well as a more detailed analysis of the PGA Tour players swings.

From the Jim Furyk feature, a rush of golfers to the Internet to have their own model swing built caused ModelGolf to increase its website's capacity to serve the heavy traffic.

Officials at Pittsburgh-based CompuSport LLC, developer of the ModelGolf instruction program, estimate that as many as 1.5 million people per weekend will access ModelGolf content on the Internet as driven by the NBC features.

ModelGolf technology represents the first golf instruction program exclusively dedicated to the scientific diagnosis and solutions of golf swings.

ModelGolf is based on biomechanics (the study of human motion) and the ModelPro has a composite of the best swing characteristics of more than 100 Tour players. They include Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman and Davis Love III. The ModelPro is sized to the body dimensions of any golfer then the golfer's customized ideal swing is overlaid onto their actual swing to compare strengths and weaknesses.
