There's good news and bad news for fans planning to watch the HSBC World Match Play Championship at Wentworth's West Course from October 16-19.
The good news is that defending champion Ernie Els and three of the 2003 major champions Mike Weir, Ben Curtis and Shaun Micheel will be challenging for the £1 million first prize. The bad news is that no British or Irish players have qualified in the 12-man field.
In addition, world No.1 Tiger Woods is committed to a junior golf clinic in the US, the same weekend.
US Open Jim Furyk, and other top American stars Kenny Perry, Phil Mickelson, David Toms and Davis Love also turned down the trip but Europe will be represented by Thomas Bjorn, Fredrik Jacobson and Alex Cejka.
Els will be trying to match Gary Player and Seve Ballesteros in claiming a fifth victory in the tournament, while others taking part, who all qualified from scoring points in the majors are Vijay Singh, Stephen Leaney, Tim Clark, Len Mattiace and Chad Campbell.
