Callaway turns the screw with new putter

Exploding view of I-Trax putter

Callaway says it has taken putter technology to the next level with the introduction of the I-Trax putter.

It has three weighted screws, two brass in the face and one of alluminium in the sole - and an interchangeable alignment aid.

Callaway's designers say the triangular screws create a more balanced feel and skid-free roll, while the 'vision strips' allow golfers to choose either chevrons or a solid line for their alignment.

The unique design of the I-Trax includes an aluminum body milled by Bob Bettinardi, to 'produce solid feel and enhanced feedback amplified by a sound slot located directly behind the face that tunes the sound at impact.'

Interchangeable alignment aid

The heavy, fixed weights positioned at the heel and toe in the face and in the back centre of the sole, help create a centre of gravity low and back in the head. Callaway says this high 'moment of inertia' that delivers stability and consistent roll.

The interchangeable strips are kept in place by four tiny screws. An Allen wrench and four spare screws are included in the £179 price tag.

The I-Trax Putter has a soft polymer Winn grip that incorporates the distinctive Hex aerodynamic pattern used in Callaway Golf golf balls. It comes with a protective neoprene head cover and component case for the straight line vision strip.
