 Nike One Platinum balls

The ball which teetered on the edge of Augusta's 16th hole before dropping in and eventually led to Tiger Woods claiming his latest US Masters green jacket, will soon be available for UK golfers.
It can't be guaranteed to always hang around the edges of holes before dropping into the cup but Nike says it will make it easier to hole more putts because it will get closer to the green by the aerial route.
And it's no coincidence that Woods' return to form has been linked to his use of the prototype Nike One Platinum ball, which he claims has given him the distance and direction he has been craving as well as control around the greens.
Nike says its latest ball (£40 a dozen) has been designed to maximise the potential of larger headed drivers, like the Nike Ignite 460 Tiger uses, by delivering a longer, higher trajectory ball flight with less spin, without losing the spin performance around the green.
Nike, who will introduce the ball to the UK in June, says that in Woods' six events this year he is averaging 301 yards off the tee, ranking him third on the PGA Tour. His 407-yard bomb at the Mercedes Championship in Hawaii ranks it the second longest on Tour so far.
For Woods though, the One Platinum's responsiveness around the green is just as critical. He's also ranked third in Greens in Regulation, and second in scoring with an average of 69.31 shots per round.
The 408-dimple ball, generating, says Nike, a higher, more penetrating flight, will feature a progressive density core with a soft centre and harder outer shell for lower spin off the tee. It also claims to descend at a less steep angle, promoting more distance and roll.
