Allan's early Golfmagic gift

Ping Craz-E putter which Allan has won

Allan Campbell, from Lichfield in Staffordshire, has just crossed a Ping Craz-E putter off his Christmas wish list!

It's not that he doesn't fancy the club with which Argentinian Angel Cabrera won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth last month - he's about to receive one for free courtesy of Ping Europe and Golfmagic.

The 41-year-old senior nurse on the heart ward of Birmingham Children's Hospital was among those who told us their stories of losses, breakages and basic embarrassment surrounding their golf equipment.

His submission was chosen randomly from the total entry.

Dozens told us about how they'd had equipment damaged at airports or accidentally broken clubs against trees. The horror stories were most entertaining.

Allan revealed: "I first started playing in my student nurse days in the mid 1980's, was never less than 28 handicap, but loved the game all the same. Then, as happens for many, a young family came along and interrupted my playing.

"Fortunatly during a last New Year do at a local social club a notice for an upcoming society day caught my eye. I informed my wife that golf was back on the agenda and I haven't looked back since."

His embarrassment emerged when he approached a local pro for some lessons before the event and was asked from which museum he'd purchased his clubs!

"So I bought a second hand set from a golf discount store -nice Slazenger irons and woods - but cheap putter. So this means I can now cross a new putter off my Christmas list thanks to Golfmagic," he says.

Allan has been playing again for six months and says his game feels much more solid, and though he's still only 28 handicap, he feels sure he will improve.

" My wife is enjoying the breaks and one of my ten year old twins has his own half set, and has developed a pretty nice swing, " says Allan. "He could be the next Luke Donald!"

Allan, has chosen a 35-inch Craze-E similar to that used by Cabrera and Lee Westwood with extreme perimeter weighting, full-face G2i insert, low centre of gravity and alignment system and a soft G2i blue grip to enhance feel.

'With its bright blue livery, and the look of a large belt buckle on a stick, you could even use it to pick up one of Phil Mickelson’s divots, such is its shovel-like appearance.'
