Adams adds to waterproof dilemma

Adams' waterproof jacket

After reputedly the UK's warmest day of the year so far, followed by heavy rainstorms sweeping the country, it's perhaps appropriate that Adams and Galvin Green should choose their time appropriately to reveal their latest waterproof ranges.

For Adams, introducing an affordable waterproof range to the UK, is a new venture and adds to our almost annual dilemma of how to look smart when it's wet. They're better known, perhaps for their playable fairway metals and as pioneers in hybrids.

The suit, made from 100% polyester, making it light, soft and silent, is treated with a micro-porous breathable coating and costs £99.99.

It's available with either a fixed sleeve jacket, or a pullover with sleeves that convert to three-quarter length.

Bought separately, the jacket (black/slate) or pullover (black/red) costs £70 and the trousers (black) £39.99. Features include high neck storm flaps draw-cord waist on the jacket and adjustable zip legs and draw waist on the trousers. Galvin Green's new products feature the latest Insula Carl and Carmela lightweight, long sleeve pullovers for men and women respectively.

The Carl pullover comes in either deep blue or black with white piping, while the Carmela is available in deep red (top picture), with a distinctive white stripe down the arms and side. Price for either is £69.

The Windstopper collection features a micro-porous PTFE membrane used in ski clothes, laminated with fleece or used as a lining.

The strangely-named Burt windstopper (£159) comes in black & graphite colour combination, while the lightweight Brad jacket (£119) is available in black. The Bennett (£139) is a pullover in deep blue and black options.
