There's good news for golfers travelling from UK airports, most airlines will take your clubs for free or offer reduces charges.

Now, Airport Parking and Hotels has revealed that while golfers are generally welcomed with open arms, skiers and surfers may have to pay more for the privilege of seeking snow and sea.

To avoid confrontation and hassle, golfers can now check comparison charts for luggage limits for 22 of the UK's leading airlines to help take the stress out of excess baggage costs and added extras.

Rates for checked-in luggage range from 20 - 32kg and hand luggage limits stretch from 5kg with Alitalia to the more original Easyjet rule, which states, a bag can be, "as heavy as the passenger can carry and lift above their head, in a case measuring 55x40x20cm." Travelling parents and grandparents will be glad to know that there is no charge for pushchairs on any aircraft - not even Ryanair!

Construction of the first course and residential units is scheduled to begin shortly.

"We are excited that Greg Norman chose our project for his first course in southern Spain," said Josefina Alcaraz Marin, president of Mediterráneo Hispa Group. "His presence exemplifies quality and the level of excellence to be achieved at 3 Molinos Resort."

Some good points made here. My experience has shown that it is far more cost effective to book the clubs on in advance than to try to pay at the airport. Some countries, such as the Dominican Republic can apparently charge you independently of the airline on departure for heavy items such as golf clubs. When I went it only cost me £20 extra to book the clubs in advance which saved a lot of hassle. Just don't lose the receipt....
