The short game tools, which helped inspire Phil Mickelson to his record 13-stroke victory in the BellSouth Classic in Atlanta yesterday, will soon be available in the UK.

His new Callaway X-Tour wedges, forged from soft 1020 carbon steel, have been produced for the better player with a range of lofts and bounces. The 58- and 60-degree models also feature a special 'PM grind' and unique 'Mack Daddy' grooves, preferred by the World No.4 to maximise spin, trajectory and distance control.

The world's best left-handed golfer used a prototype version of the 60-degree X-Tour wedge to clinch the US PGA title at Baltusrol last August, leaving himself a tap-in putt for birdie and his second major championship.

Commented Mickelson: "When designed Roger Cleveland first handed me the new X-Tour wedge, I couldn't wait to test the spin. I knew the grooves were big; in fact, I called them my 'Mack Daddy' grooves because of their size. They delivered what I wanted - maximum spin, which equates to maximum control."

Golfers will have a choice of finishes for the new wedges - satin chrome (£99) or Vintage (£109) preferred by many Tour pros.

X-Tour wedges will be available in eight different loft/bounce options: 50-degrees of loft with 11 degrees of bounce, 52 (11), 54 (13), 56 (13), 58 (9), 58 (11) and 60 (9). The 58 and 60 degree models also have the PM grind and MD groove options. The 52-11, 56-13 and 60-11 PM models will also be available left-handed.

You've still got time to get one of the latest Callaway X-460 drivers, currently used by Mickelson, US Open champion Michael Campbell and Ryder Cup star Thomas Bjorn. And if the one you nominate wins the US Masters this week, you could get your money back.
