An ingenious two-in-one waterproof jacket that doubles up as a gillet, has been launched by Ping Collection and should find a willing market among women golfers.

The striking Ellie jacket is made from a lightweight, waterproof Polyester fabric and features zip-off sleeves that can be removed in seconds.

Suitable for both on and off the course, this adaptable waterproof has several other useful features, including a half-mesh, half-nylon lining, adjustable sides, elasticated cuffs and front zip pockets. It also has its own lightweight storage bag, which can be attached to a golf bag or packed into a small holdall.

The trousers are made the same two-layer fabric and with a side zip and an elasticated waistband. In sizes 8-20 there's a choice of three leg lengths (27, 29 and 31 inches). Glenmuir's autumn/winter collection features deep rich shades of purple and sand/grey as well as asparagus and parsley greens.

Stripes and diamond patterns like the zip-front Beauly (£62.90) or the crew-neck Marston (£62.90) feature in the mens collection blending black, husk and paprika in a range of polo shirts and jumpers.
