The Open Championship: The 2006 official film

Congratulation to Alan McDermaid, Alex Smith, Simon Priest and Brain Shewan, all whom were successful in our November forum competition winning themselves a copy of the Official 135th Open DVD.
We asked you “Outside the current Open rota (and ignoring any infrastructure concerns) which UK course, in your opinion, would generate a thrilling Open championship and why?
Alex Smith, 16, a member at Hinckley Golf Club in Leicestershire, twice venue for the Midland PGA Match Play Championship selected Kingsbarns describing it as a “beautiful course with lots of undulations and great bunkering”.
Simon Priest, 33, a production manager who plays his golf at Ashton-on-Mersey Golf Club off a 4 handicap selected Royal St. David's Golf Club in Harlech. "It's the toughest par-69 in the country, especially the back nine with a par of just 33.”
And having played over 250 courses worldwide, his favourite being The European near Wicklow, he is well qualified to judge.
Alan McDermaid made Royal County Down his choice. Not least because the challenge is "tougher than my mum's roast beef", but the course is “beautifully framed by hills and sea.” Several others agreed.
Our final winning entrant, Brain Shewan from Newport simply stated, “Royal Aberdeen, why? - just ask the seniors last year!.”
With only four players finishing the tournament under par, Tom Watson, Des Smyth, Greg Norman and Craig Stadler it certainly seems like a track which could carry The Open burden.
Royal Porthcawl, The Grove, Royal Dornoch, Siloth-on-Solway all featured on other posts.
