Reproduction of the 'Postage Stamp' hole at Northwick Park
|
The event takes place on Thursday, May 24 and for a chance to be included in one of the three fourballs (two GM staff will also take part) all you have to do is tell us on the forum which great golf hole in the world would give you the greatest thrill to play and why (in less than 30 words, not counting the name of the hole).
We'll pick 10 deserving candidates from the thread and invite them along on the day which includes coffee and bacon/sausage roll on arrival at 10.30 a.m., 100 free practice balls on the two-tier golf range, practice on the National Short Game Centre chipping and putting green, three holes warm-up, nine-hole PowerPlay competition and presentation of prizes.
Says former Walker Cup captain and leading amateur golfer Peter McEvoy, who devised PowerPlay golf's answer to Twenty20 cricket: "It offers a shorter, exciting version of golf - where elements of risk and reward are enhanced. Over nine holes a player can, in advance of their approach, opt to nominate three 'powerplays'. This means they can go for a more difficult black flagstick option to double their points tally for a gross or nett birdie."
This new form of golf is being introduced to clubs in the Middlesex area, but our Golfmagic competition gives our member an exclusive chance to try it and give the innovators crucial feedback before it's adopted by clubs nationwide as an alternative to monthly medals and stableford events.
