Chris lands VIP trip to Wentworth

golf course reviews
Bowood Golf and Country Club

Golfmagic member Chris Hamblin was planning to visit the European Tour's flagship event at Wentworth this week as a mere ticket holder at the BMW PGA Championship to watch some of the world's best players in action.

He and a friend will get to watch the climax of the event on Sunday as a VIP guest of The Golf Vine and Nokia, with a grandstand view of the closing stages from a hospitality suite beside the 18th green of the West Course.

Chris, a 24-year-old, from Richmond, Surrey who works for an international IT consultancy submitted several user-reviews to the Golfmagic data base during April and May and was chosen from hundreds who took part to win our major prize.

"That's really good news," said a delighted Chris, who took up golf five years ago but claims to have improved through playing more in the last year. "I was hoping to go to the event but now a VIP trip is awesome!"

He adds: "I play off an unofficial 24 as I'm not a member of a club at present. But I'm looking to join somewhere over the next few weeks and have posted a couple of times on the forum recently, looking for recommendations with my choice."

Chris reviewed four courses Gatton Manor Hotel ('the most enjoyable course I've ever played'), Bowood Golf and Country Club ( 'you need to be good out of the sand; there are bunkers are everywhere'), The Wychwood Golf Club ('although it's a very new course, it plays quite maturely') and Laleham Golf Club ('easy walking course with excellent greens').

Golfmagic currently has over 3,000 user-reviews of courses in the UK to help golfers make up their minds next time they are planning a day out. Every month we give away great prizes to those who submit their opinions so make sure you have a chance to win by telling us about the courses you've played.

Being the first time I've attended such an event, I wasn't sure what to expect... if anything I was concerned it would be hard to get close to the action and that as the day when on there would be less to see. Wrong. It was the complete opposite, we didn't know where to look! Whether it was out on course or in our very fortunate surroundings of the VIP lounge, keeping one eye on the live action and the other on score boards and TV's was a challenge, particular as things got close at the ...
