Tiger's Daddy Cool at Carnoustie

Apart from being US citizens, jet-owners, living legends, millionaires and having won at least 12 majors apiece, what have Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus in common?

Both know weeks in advance what they'll be wearing on specific days at a golf tournament. For Woods it's a promotional and marketing necessity, for Nicklaus during his hey-day it was, I understand, because his colour blindness meant he needed to avoid making un-coordinated colour faux pas. Wife Barbara ensured his day-to-day clothing was provided in advance, in clearly-marked boxes.

The clothing makers at Nike Golf have known for several weeks how the World No.1 will be kitted out to look Daddy Cool at Carnoustie - subject to the local weather - and his outfits will reflect the European range of his own Tiger Woods collection in various styles.

As well as the Dri-FIT Drop Needle polo in Blue Recall on Thursday and the Multi Mini stripe polo in Palomino on Friday, if he makes the Cut (God forbid!), he'll wear the Dri-FIT Texture polo in Pebble Grey on Saturday and his traditional Dri-FIT Seamless Herringbone mock turtle neck in Dusty Red for the final day.

The shirts will be available after the Open for between £40 and £50.

Tiger will also wear his Limited Edition Majors footwear in black/varsity crimson currently available at £140 - a pair of SP8 TW Tour shoes with a TW10 stitched in the heel to celebrate the tenth anniversary of his first major, the US Masters, in 1997.

The shoes feature the Nike Power Channel, a low profile caged Air-Sole unit and Scorpion Stinger spikes.
