Stroke average
Ross Fisher, who uses the www.strokeaverage.com system, with the Dutch Open trophy

How long and accurate are you with your new driver compared with your old one? Has your chipping improved since your last lesson? Where does your putting rank against a Tour pro?

These are all questions we tend to ask ourselves without ever knowing the exact answers.

But now a new website can provide them in great detail and we're giving a handful of Golfmagic members a chance to sample it free of charge.

At www.strokeaverage.com you can enter your own golf game information in four separate categories - equipment, courses, rounds and statistics - and over an accumulation of weeks you can easily discover the exact areas where you're strong but perhaps more significantly where you're weak.

It will soon build a picture of where you need to improve and the site can help you discover the steps you need to take to bring your handicap down.

The optional 'equipment' section is used to enter and manage the clubs you use while the 'course' area allows you to either select or enter the courses that you have played.

In 'rounds' you can input your scores on a shot by shot basis, while the 'statistics' section helps you to identify - your strengths and weaknesses in every aspect of your game - including driving distance and accuracy, greens in regulation, scrambling and putting.

The data you feed into the www.strokeaverage.com site will assist not only you but your friends and your coach in working on the areas of your game that reveal tell-tale weaknesses.

Among those who have made full use of the www.strokeaverage.com site is Ross Fisher - winner of the KLM Dutch Open at the weekend plus Ryder Cup heroes, Darren Clarke, Lee Westwood and Paul McGinley.

Says Ross: "Being a professional sportsman I need to take advantage of great equipment and services, which this is. I have been working with StrokeAverage for some time now and thank them for their help."

Darren Clarke adds: "The experts at StrokeAverage simplify the game so much, telling me exactly what I need to work on to improve."
