NEC Golf Show preview

NEC golf show
Zen Oracle training and tracking system'

If you're planning to visit the three-day Golf Show at the NEC in Birmingham this weekend (starts Friday) ensure you visit the Zen Oracle putter stand where you can have the most important part of your game analysed.

Padraig Harington, Luke Donald and Niclas Fasth are among those who use Break 30 putting performance course, a combination of the SAM Putt Lab training system Eclipse Eye Tracking and Zen Oracle putters to deliver instant proof of the improvements gained by its use.

I tried the system recently at the Munich Golf Trade Show and it quickly identifies swing path, off-centre hits and an imperfection in the angle of the clubface at impact.

Zen's managing director, Nick Middleton, explains: "The Zen Oracle training features encourage a smooth, accelerated stroke in helping overcome disturbances in the stroke (yipping).

The new Zen Oracle putter features the patented RDE face technology, ensuring straighter putts, to counter deviations caused by the dimples on a modern golf ball.

Middleton adds: "The modern golf ball is designed to travel long and straight, which is ideal when hitting woods or irons. But unfortunately these properties conspire to create misery on the putting green, which is where our RDE technology can redress the balance."

Visitors buying a new Zen Oracle RDE mallet putter at the show will also receive a free putter fitting and analysis worth £50 and have their single entry ticket price refunded.

Show visitors also stand a chance of winning the latest equipment from TaylorMade and being custom-fitted for the new r7 CGB MAX and Burner Draw drivers on the TM Tour truck and can test-drive the latest equipment on the indoor driving range.

Among other prizes is the chance to win a Jaguar X-type 2.2 diesel saloon car, courtesy of Stratstone Jaguar, if you hole in one on the nearest-the-pin Full Swing Golf simulator

Some of the country's top coaches will be on hand including Gary Alliss from The Belfry, which has teamed up with The Golf Show, to offer a special deal of a round of golf on The Derby course and dinner, bed and breakfast for £69 each. The deal also includes two free tickets to the show. To take up this offer golfers should call 08709 00 00 66 and quote 'GSL'.

Tickets for the show (10am to 5pm each day)Unique putter fitting by Zen Oracle cost £10 in advance, £5 for juniors.

Tell us on the forum your opinions of this weekend's Golf Show at the NEC. Both GM members and the organisers will appreciate your feedback.

Seems like the people behind the London Golf Show have decided to do a Birmingham Golf Show at the NEC this year, 16-18th November. Nice of them to remember the rest of us non-southerners.

Advanced tickets are £10 (£5 juniors). But for a limited time if you enter the promotional code 'LAUNCH241' at the NEC boxoffice website you can select a 2for1 offer, so 2 tickets for £10.

American Golf seems to be an official retail partner of the show. Just hope it's not an exclusive deal, as a little retail competition would be nice at such shows. Hopefully they'll at least offer some show-only deals (with real savings, not just highlighting how much their normal prices save off the RRP) to get people ...
