TaylorMade to the rescue!

TaylorMade
Pettersen - emergency replacement

What happens when during a round, the head snaps on your driver or the shaft on your 3-wood suddenly works loose? Generally we shrug our shoulders, stick the sick club back in the bag and manage without it for the rest of the round.

But not if your name's Suzann Pettersen, the 26-year-old Norwegian, who has already won four times this year on the LPGA and ranked among the world's top five women golfers.

Pettersen discovered that the shaft of her TaylorMade Burner 3-wood was loose after hitting her approach to the 9th hole during her second round of the ADT Championship at the weekend.

But after an emergency call to the TaylorMade Tour van, the club specialists fixed it and had it back to her by the time she was on the 13th hole.

Tell us on the forum what club accidents and breakages have happened to you on the course.

Ping G10 - in Ochoa's bag

Meanwhile rival Lorena Ochoa went on to claim her eighth victory of the season at the ADT Championship, using a Ping G10 3-wood, replacing the Cleveland Launcher 3-wood she'd using for some time.

The stainless steel, shallow-faced G10s have weight repositioned in the sole for higher ball trajectory and less spin. The World no.1 also uses a Ping Rapture driver which she claims has given her five to seven more vital yards off the tee.

Look out in the New Year for Callaway's latest tournament balls, the Tour i and Tour iX, replacing the popular HXTour and HXTour 56 balls.

Both are four-piece balls which Callaway claim reduce spin off the driver for extra length and accuracy but different in that the Tour i has more feel and the Tour iX better greenside spin and control.

Expect to pay around £40 a dozen.
