Gold-en balls!

Pinnacle Gold FX Long box

Hot on the heels of the latest Pinnacle Platinum series of balls, which replace the 'Exception', manufacturers Acushnet is introducing two Pinnacle Gold balls - the Gold FX Soft and the Gold FX Long.

The FX Soft, say the makers, 'delivers a surprisingly soft feel on all shots without sacrificing any of its distance.'

It features a softer Surlyn cover and lower compression and an alignment stamp to promote putting accuracy.

The FX Long, is aimed recreational players with a higher swing speed, and for whom distance is a priority.

Recommended price for the Pinnacle Gold FX Soft and FX Long is £2.25 for a sleeve of three balls.

Head's new fragrances for golfers

Leading fitness and sports equipment brand Head has created a range of cool Eau de Toilettes (EDTs) for golfers, available from March.

Designed to compliment the popular Head range of antiperspirants, body sprays and shower gels, they are Ice Cool, Match Point and No Limits, each in sleek, opaque and colour-co-ordinated glass bottles and packaged in matt black containers, resembling tennis ball canisters.

Tell us on the forum what golf balls you are currently using during the winter months - ones that are softer or ones that allegedly go further in the colder air? Are you saving the premium brands for the better weather or just not fussy about balls?

*You can also tell us about the balls you prefer by submitting - a user review for the chance to win prizes every month.
