TaylorMade adds Tour Burner Irons

In addition to launching a new Burner driver, TaylorMade has also added a new set of irons to its fast-expanding Burner range for '08.

The Tour Burner irons, which go on sale in April, feature a thin clubface that claims to deliver high COR for increased ball speed and distance, as well as using the Inverted Cone technology that also appears in the Burner driver. This enlarges the portion of the clubface that delivers high ball speed, ensuring that off-centre hits don't lose too much distance. More weighting on the toe and heel has also increased the MOI for better stability on those rare less-than-perfect strikes.

The Tour Burner irons also feature a sole which is beveled at the back to make it perform like a much thinner sole, which increases playability from a variety of lies. The top-line is classified as 'medium' thickness, while the head features moderate amount of offset and a chrome-plated satin-buff finish.

The rather fussy back portion of the clubhead features a badge in the cavity that helps to tune the feel and sound at impact.

Available from 2- to 9-iron, plus four wedges (PW, 50, 55 and 60), with True Temper steel shafts (105g) and the graphite Burner REAX 65 (65g) in S, R and M flexes. Both come with Golf Pride's Tour Velvet grips.

Price (eight irons): £499 (steel), £599 (graphite).
