 Actor David O'Hara

The film of Michael Murphy's 1972 novel, starring Scottish actors David O'Hara Malcolm McDowell and which has sold over a million copies - is based on a fictional tale set in the 1950s, about a young American philosophy student who is given a lesson at Burningbush Golf Club in Fife. His life is never the same again.
It is believed that Balcomie Links of Crail provided Murphy with the inspiration behind 'Burningbush' but the film-makers have not returned to the famous Scots course to shoot the film. Instead the scenes were shot at Bandon Dunes golf course in Oregon.
As well as O'Hara, who plays the Burningbush golf pro, and whose work includes roles in 'Hotel Rwanda' and 'Braveheart' and McDowell (A Clockwork Orange), American actor Mason Gamble plays the student golfer.
Others include Frances Fisher (Titanic) and Manchester actress Joanne Whalley. Susan Streitfeld directs the film.
Murphy told the newspaper: "It's eccentric but not as much as some art films.”
