Benefits felt for Golfmagic Q-Link testers

Back in July we offered four Golfmagic members the chance to win one of the latest Q-Link pendants and report back with their findings, over a 10 week period.

Since the Q-Link pendant was launched in 2001, more than 350 Tour pros have worn the various models, recording over 120 victories. Many feel the benefits, while others complain they're short changed.

So what’s the real story? Do they work for the open-minded, internet-using golfers? Here's the results from our very own clinical trials. (No golfers were harmed during the compilation of this article ;o)

Sarah Walton, in a state of permanent stress as a driving instructor, and Nick Roddis, on the verge of moving house and getting married were keen to put Q-Links stress-busting properties to the test.

And both were committed to the research. “I wear it for about 15 - 16 hours a day, but I don't sleep with it on as it isn't comfortable having a cord around your neck” says Sarah. Nick wears his all the time and adds:

“Although it took a while I’ve grown quite used to it. My sleep improved in terms of both falling asleep more quickly and in terms of quality of sleep. I’ve always been a light sleeper but not since I’ve been wearing the pendant.”

Sarah claims she feels "more energised" but isn't 100% sure whether it was down to the Q-Link pendant or the fact that 'we‘d enjoyed some very good and bright weather at the time."

Personally, I noticed a distinct improvement in my sleep within the first week - not in terms of the pattern, but definitely the depth. As a sufferer of headaches, they have been less frequent.

So are our two 'guinea pigs' who responded playing better golf?

"Yes!" says Nick without hesitation. "I’m now consistently playing to my 15 handicap. Before I was more like 17 or 18 and have been cut on the basis of two or three really good rounds.”

Says Sarah, who plays off single figures: "I've shot some good scores this year and my game is definitely more consistent than last year. Having only worn my pendant for half a season, I'm sure next season will prove even more conclusive and I'll certainly keep wearing it, because I don't get as wound up with myself if I hit a poor shot.”

On the course, I found I, too, was considerably calmer and more patient between shots - traits I also noticed while playing cricket. My shot selection and patience at the crease was much better and the ability to judge each ball on its merits and forget the previous ball was definitely evident.

Our testers felt that Q-Link works both on a scientific and subconscious level - thanks to the tiny Sympathetic Resonance Technology chip which claims to ‘tune’ the body into its optimum frequency, promoting a mental strength.

The only concern was over price. Sarah rated the product as a seven out of ten and Nick concluded, “They’re not cheap. However, if they deliver the promised results for you, they’re value for money. If I was a club-chucker I would buy one immediately!

Q-Link pendants affect each body and mind in a different way. But if it works for you then it really is a small price to pay. Even Nick’s sceptical girlfriend was eventually won over! The only way you’ll find out it is to try one for yourself.

Has anyone actually tried a Q-Link? Came across them at www.golfgarb.co.uk and www.qlinkworld.co.uk and they seem pretty big in the golf world but I have never heard of them before.

Gave me a huge headache when i first wore it, played better, left it off by mistake and played even better, placebo effect?
Posted: 12/01/2007 20:57

I have one, been wearing it for a few months. I definately feel calmer but as live to golf says wether it is the placebo effect or not i dont know.
Posted: 12/01/2007 21:17

I've worn one for about 1.5 years now. I can't say for sure whether it works but I do feel calmer on the golf course than I used to. My handicap has fallen by about 8 strokes in that time and I am much more confident and positive on the course (lots of practice has helped too!).

Golf is played 90% in the mind and placebo effect or not that is where the Q link seems to work!

I noticed a difference in my sleep pattern after putting it on. I had a longer sleep. (I used to wake up every hour) My golf is getting better as well. Do not know if it works but as I have spent thousands on clubs what is £100.00.

I tried wearing one every day for about six months and, after initially getting the impression I was a little calmer and better focussed on the course, it didn't seem to make a huge deal of difference to me over the longer period.
I'm not a great sleeper either and it didn't seem to do much in that department either, although I should add that I didn't wear it whilst in bed.

Seems to suit some though so I might give it another try, otherwise it'll go on eBay.

eggs

I never take mine off so maybe that is why it helped to change my sleep pattern.

Four folks won Q-links in a competition here about 6 months ago...apparrently there was gonna be a big write up from each of them about the benefits or otherwise.....but i've not seen anything yet.

Personally...I've had one for three or four years and reckon its a big benefit to helping maintain a calm demeanour on the course. also I used to work in an area of high electromagnetic interference and would often feel totally drained come mid afternoon.....wearing the Q-link certainly gave me greater energy in the afternoon.

I only take mine off to sleep at night.

Taz
I've had the implant option - saves wearing a necklace.

I understand they do the matching handbag and earrings now.

:-)

I got one earlier in december and wear it 24/7. I must say I've only noticed through the last few rounds that I've been a lot calmer on the course when things have gone bad, which has helped me keep my head together. I won a stableford in december and came 3rd in one last week. Had a couple of shots shaved off my high handicap (I could just be improving though, couldnt get much worse!). I havent scored under 33pts since wearing it.

TAZ
Wait till you Try wearing the stiletto heels. Now you know how the greens get all these holes in them during the winter.
Posted: 14/01/2007 21:18

Thanks for that, John.
It might well explain why I didn't get that much out of it.

Never tried wearing it while sleeping; considered it but never did it.
I'll have to start the process over again to give it a fair go and to see if I'm missing out.

Taz- never mind necklaces, bags and earrings; you've had implants!?!?
How very... err... modern. ;-)

I dont wear mine to bed, perhaps i should try it but i dont see how it would stay in close contact with your chest, surely it would just dangle on the bed.......ooooer missus
Posted: 15/01/2007 09:42

Bit of superglue on the back should keep it in close contact with your chest.

PS For the stupid amongst us, please don't try this, hospitals tend to frown on this kind of thing.

Chris, too late, how am i going to get this off now........ ;o)

Anyone tried fairy dust?

My mother's brother in law's co-dependant foster child tried it and IT WORKS!
Posted: 15/01/2007 11:38

Any idea where to get it TinPot? My game definitely needs something magical, and fairy dust might just be the thing ;)
Posted: 15/01/2007 11:47

...Can only be gathered under a blue moon at midday in the height of summer when Jupiter juxtaposes Mercury, I'm afraid. :(

Luckily, I own a small plot of land in a 'special' location that fulfills these requirements, I can retail it to you at £50/gram if you'll send me your credit card details. :D

I can also link you up with a wealthy Nigerian ex-Defence Minister who is looking to transfer a few billion dollars into someones account in return for a couple of grand.
Posted: 15/01/2007 11:59

Tinpot, can i have that too please, i accidentally deleted my email from him? ;o)
Posted: 15/01/2007 12:15

Taz
Apparently this Fairy Dust works

You just wear it round your neck and sprinkle it on your balls when needed. Its even got a 'real' chain not a piece of string - look at the bargain price

:-)
Posted: 15/01/2007 16:34

Ah Taz, this doesn't look like special "Golfers Fairy Dust". I'm afraid some non-specific product won't help me. I need some dust that is endorsed by a PGA golfer, you know, someone who's won one tournament just after starting to sprinkle the fairy dust.

Seriously some of these "endorsements" are my pet-hate of the month. How someone (like Padraig Harrington) can say 'buy these shoes, because the spikes, which aren't massively dissimilar to those in most other shoes, mean I can hit the ball 10 yards further' without wetting himself laughing defies all logic to me. Best part of it is that when I watched Padraig at The Grove in September he wasn;t even wearing 'the spikes ' cos he had metal spikes in.
Posted: 15/01/2007 16:43

Chris..but if you read the very small print on those Hi-Tec ads..you will also see "Padraig also embarked on a practice, diet and fitness regime"

Hmmm...Wonder what had the most effect on those extra 10 yards????
Posted: 15/01/2007 17:10

Or more to the point.......which had the least effect on those extra 10 yards?
