Defending the Masters: Zach speaks out

Zach Johnson wears FootJoy shoes in his march back to the Masters

Zach Johnson, the defending champion at this year's US Masters, which starts tomorrow, has been talking about his approach to the 2008 event on the www.footjoyblog.com.

He says: "Winning was an awesome experience and I'm particularly looking forward to being part of the Masters fraternity, those who can wear the green jacket."

Asked if he will stick to his game plan from 2007, which saw him finish 11-under par on the par-5s he says: "Definitely. It was a game plan that fitted my game and the putter, especially helped get me through it. It was a case of seeing the lines, getting the speed to the utmost and watching the ball tracking in."

Zach Johnson will be one of many players wearing FootJoy shoes at the Masters, where dozens of specially-created models are being flown in to be left in leading players' lockers, including Vijay Singh, Ian Poulter and Angel Cabrera, who also features in an one of the comedy FootJoy adverts on the site.

Zach played to a game plan last year and was successful, I do not believe that he will be anything like as successful this year. For me another Larry Mize, right place at the right time with the right game plan.
