Adams Blue hybrid review

The maker of the number one hybrid on the PGA Tour has once again come up trumps with its latest game-improvement model.

Although the new Blue hybrid won't be in too many Tour bags this season, unlike the new Red hybrid, we would certainly recommend this one to mid and high-handicap players. It is incredibly forgiving and extremely easy to launch from a range of lies.

The company's famous Velocity Slot is again at the forefront of its design. The slot flexes the face at impact to provide greater ball speed whether you have hit it out of the middle or in the heel and toe.

While not the longest hybrid in the world, we did find that even the most inaccurate strikes still travelled as far as the majority of our centre hits. And most importantly, straight.

The hybrid's low, back centre of gravity location and new SlimTech shaft, which is slightly slimmer than your typical hybrid shaft, presented us with an ideal mid-high launch with plenty of backspin from both the fairway and intermediate rough.

Unlike the Red hybrid, however, we did not feel there was a great deal of workability about it. We thought it was easy to sling to the left, but fades were slightly tougher to manufacture.

The sound is much louder than the silent Red hybrid, but it is by no means overpowering. It has more of "ting" noise about it.

In terms of looks, we love the typical Adams low profile about it, as well as the fresh navy crown and understated logo in the centre that aids suitable alignment.

Verdict

Available in lofts of 19, 21, 23 and 25 degrees, the Adams Blue hybrid looks well worth the plunge at £129. It is the perfect choice for the player craving a hybrid that is both easy on the eye and easy to launch.Â
