It was simply a matter of time.
Following six top-tens already this season before lining up at TPC Boston, including four top-three finishes in his last five starts, golf's hottest property Henrik Stenson clinched his first PGA Tour title in more than four years with victory at the Deutsche Bank Championship.
The 37-year-old Swede carded a final-round 66 to win the second FedEx Cup Playoffs event by two shots over American Steve Stricker on 22-under.
Despite starting slowly during Monday's fourth and final round with a bogey at the par-5 second, Stenson bounced back with four birdies in the space of five holes from the fourth and then added further red numbers at 11 and 17 following a hole-out from sand.
Stenson, who also leads the Race to Dubai standings on the European Tour, trusted a mixed bag of equipment including TaylorMade R1 driver, Callaway Diablo Octane Tour fairway woods, Callaway Legacy Black irons, Cleveland 588 RTX wedges, Piretti putter and Titleist Pro V1x.
He also strode to glory in FJ Icon and wore FJ PureTouch glove.
The three-time PGA Tour champion ranked first in greens in regulation on 85% and tenth in driving accuracy on 79%.
With the win, Stenson moves to No.1 in the season-long FedEx Cup standings and up four places in the world rankings to sixth.
