Fairway to Furlong’s Cheltenham Festival Golf Day at Celtic Manor raised a whopping £27,000 for the Seve Ballesteros Foundation.

More than 220 avid golf and horse racing fans took to the fairways of the Ryder Cup Twenty Ten and Roman Road courses to compete for a host of prizes, including an all-inclusive trip to Santa Anita for the Breeders’ Cup.

Those in attendance included 2011 Grand National winning jockey Jason Maguire, leading Flat star Richard Hughes, former top jump jockey Mick Fitzgerald and Channel 4 Racing presenter Derek Thompson.

“The Cheltenham Festival Golf Day was a great event and set us all up for a cracking Festival,” said Thompson. “It’s fantastic that we have raised so much for such a great cause. I hope the guests enjoyed the evening as much as I did, it certainly looked as if they did!”

Guests headed off to the first day of the Festival armed with tips and were rewarded when Cinders And Ashes returned under Maguire for a 10/1 success.
