Darren Clarke, Sir Nick Faldo and Peter Alliss are challenging golfers to go the extra mile at this year's Four Course Classic - the UK's biggest charity golf event.

Tackling four 18-hole courses on the longest Friday of the year on June 22, each team of four will cover 15 miles of fairways in 16 hours in aid of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, the leading UK charity focusing on muscle disease.

“Playing 72 holes in one day is the ultimate challenge and a great way to really testing your golf skills and stamina,” said Clarke, who is supporting the event for the third year in a row and helped last year's event raise more than £40,000.

“Signing up to this event could help to save the lives of thousands of children and adults who often face disability and even an early death.”

Hundreds of prestigious golf courses across the UK have signed up to support the challenge, offering free tee times to participants. The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign has also pledged to get in touch with any courses golfers want to play which are not currently signed up to the scheme.

Each player will receive their four complimentary tee times, golf kit including balls and a polo shirt and will need to raise the minimum sponsorship of £250.

Winners will receive some great prizes including a golf holiday and Sir Nick Faldo signed memorabilia.

Golfmagic takes on the Four Course Classic

On May 4, 2012 I will be taking on the Four Course Classic in order to raise money for the MDC and also to encourage others to take part come June.

Being a full six weeks before the main event, we will have significantly less daylight to finish the challenge and will be teeing off before sunrise and putting out 72 holes later in darkness.

The challenge will see us take on Hoebridge, Burhill, Silvermere and Hersham Golf Clubs. For more information and to sponsor us, visit our JustGiving page - and don't forget to follow me on Twitter to keep up-to-date with all the fun.

Every penny is going to a superb cause and will be greatly appreciated.
