Golfmagic Awards 2008: Magic Ball

Many golfers would contend that the introduction of the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball is the most significant addition to the golf industry in the last 20 years.

And certainly, despite the challenges of top names like Srixon, TaylorMade, Callaway and Nike, the St Ives-based Titleist brand has maintained its grip as market leader. Golfmagic members didn't disagree, significantly placing the Titleist ProV1x ball - the preferred choice of triple major champion Padraig Harrington - at the top of the pile ahead of its own sister model- the Titleist NXT - and the Srixon AD333.M

The Pro V1 and ProV1x were the most played balls in all four majors this year, helping Titleist to top the ball count for a staggering 60th year in a row at the US Open and 29 consecutive years at The Open Championship (since official records began) and the model continues to sweep the board among golfers of all abilities.
