Reynolds shoots 59 with Pro V1 ball

Stuart Reynolds - round in 59.

PGA Professional Stuart Reynolds (Northants County GC) shot an amazing 59 on the par-71 Burton-on Trent course in a Midland PGA pro-am.

His score, which included six birdies in his first seven holes, broke the ten-year-old course record by five shots and gave Stuart his third win this year.

Playing the Titleist ProV1 ball, which he switched to earlier in the season, he started from the tenth tee and completed nine holes in 29 strokes (-6). Then he birdied the second, eagled the fourth and added three more birdies to complete the front nine in 30…12 under par.

The Pro V1 has already collected 102 tournaments victories since its launch earlier this year, compared to 33 by its nearest competitor, claims Titleist.

Apart from Reynolds’ most impressive was Retief Goosen’s play-off triumph at the US Open. Other titles have gone to multiple winners including Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia and Karrie Webb.

Says Reynolds: "Since changing to the Pro V1 in May, I have found that the extra length off the tee, and in my irons too, has enabled me to give myself more opportunities to shoot lower scores. I never dreamt it could be 12 under par for one round, though!"
