When World No.7 Henrik Stenson stripped down to his underpants to play a shot from a hazard during the WGC CA event in Florida last March, we thought perhaps it was a 'one-off' that golf would never see again.

Instead it inspired golfers at the TopGolf driving ranges at Watford, Chigwell and Addlestone to club together to raise £800 for the male cancer charity Everyman.

Though a little more modest than the outrageous Swede, by wearing underpants over their trousers the stunt raised £10 from the TopGolf operators for every player who entered into the spirit of the event.

In the accompanying Grand Slam tournament that had to be played under this unusual dress code, postman Stephen Dale from New Hay, Surrey was crowned Grand Slam winner with an incredible 159 points by firing at various pins within the innovative range, which he visits five times a week.

He won a Mercedes-Benz driving experience at the legendary Brooklands race track near St Georges Hill, Surrey, together a luxury overnight stay.

TopGolf marketing manager Michael Angelides said: “It was fantastic to see so many golf fans turn out for such a worthy cause. There were some interesting pants on show, too, with some looking a bit older, perhaps, than others!”

Throughout June, TopGolf has donated 5p to the charity from every game played at the range.
