Glenmuir Hi-Cool Classic shirt could be yours

Glenmuir is building on the success of its polo shirts with 10 new styles for 2009 and we're offering the chance for Golfmagic members to win Hi-Cool Classic shirts for men or Nina shirts for women by submitting equipment reviews during April and May.

All you have to do is write a review of what's currently in your bag - or even what you've tried on the range - and submit a review into the Golfmagic system and give it a rating.

At the end of May, we'll pick out the best four contributors and award a Glenmuir shirt to each.

Just re-jigged what I carry and have to tell you about the totally awesome Taylormade R7 CGBmax driver which is currently the straightest club in my bag.  I have the weight set in the 'draw' position and that gives (me) a beautiful gentle fade most of the time and a slight draw when I swing it more round me (like my pro tells me to).  I bought this club on the basis that whichever way I'm hitting it I can always help or reduce it....oh and because it is now 'last years' model American Golf gave me a really good price with a trade-in

just reviewing my howson driver. I bought a set of clubs very cheaply from a friend of mine. I am trying to get back into playing golf after a back operation. Anyway the driver, it  looks good and feels right. But for a 60yr old when you hit the ball the vibrations that emanate from it is enough to put you off. I can get a good length from it but I feel like one of those cartoon characters that hit something metal and shake and judder till their body parts fall off. So if you see a golfer near willow valley that quivers and trembles as he goes past you, that's me

Hal

I took the plunge in November 2008 and invested in a Club personalised refit.  And wished I had done it much earlier.  I have reduced my handicap down from 24 to 15.4 in less than 6 months.   Using our clubs Flight Scope analysis my irons were changed to stiff flex, 2 degrees upright and 1 inch longer.  Went with the Mizuno MX 25's 4 to PW.  Wow what a difference to my game.  I am now able to concentrate on shot making and course management instead of prayer and whisky!

As I have played Mizuno's for 4 years I just could not bear the thought of swapping for another make.  So I retained my MP FliHi 20degree Fairway Utility wood which I cream to 200 yards, Upgraded the shaft of my MP001 3wood 15degree to stiff flex which delivers me 230/240 off the turf and had driver fitted to 12degree Stiff flex MX560 which has improved my ball flight and carry by approx 15 yards to average at 250/280 yards dependent on wind.  ( Although I recently greened a par 4 off of the tee some 326 yards!)

I retain my putter an old 2003 MacGregor which just suits my technique (I rarely 3 putt) and am now going to go through the process of having some mizuno wedges fitted to finalise the bag. (I currently work with a Dunlop 60degree wedge for flops and short bunker shots)

If I am really good with her indoors, I might look at a Mizuno putter in the next 12 months just to be totally consistent with make.... but frankly I like my putting game at the moment and am not going to experiment with this side of the game for a while.

Ah, the sweet feel of Mizuno.... now thats confidence!

I have just swapped my driver from a TM Burner to the Nike SQ2 5900 and am blown away - the TM was a great driver but the Nike is the longest and straightest I've ever hit.

Acer XDS 5 Wood with a Fujikura shaft from a Sonartec club in it - I love this club! TM R5 XL Hybrid 4 iron usually behaves itself nicely.

Classic Ping Eye 2 5-SW are as solid as a rock, although I also have some S59s waiting in the wings which will probably go into the bag soon if my striking stays crisp.

Odyssey 2 ball blade DFX putter.

Technology at the long and short ends and classic design in-between. Suits me Sir!

I have been demoing the new Titleist 909D2 with a Aldila Voodoo shaft, really like the head as its more like the traditional pear shape of my own 905R (V2 stiff). Just not sure about the head/ shaft combo.

Titleist 904 15 degree 3 wood (Aldila 85-S) and 904HB 21 degree (Graphit Design HB 85 S)

Bridgestone j33 cavity back 4-W (S300). I have demoed MP62's, Ping S57's and the Nike VR cavity backs but decided to stick with the bridgestones even though all three are excellant irons

Callaway X Tour forged wedges 52,56,60 (S300)

I was speaking with the pro this morning said it was about time you left that club back

 Currently im using

Driver : G10 9 deg stiff TFC shaft

Uncomplicated head delivering a penetrating flight and great results.

Fairway : G10 3 wood stiff TFC shaft

I call this baby the 75 percenter cause it hits 3 fairways out of every 4 which is good for someone like me who sprays the ball a bit.

Utility : G10 21 deg  stiff TFC shaft

Nice utility does the trick however im sure their are better clubs out there.

Irons : Callaway X22 tour dynamic gold stiff

Recently changed from a set of Nike VR Split cavity they are a nice iron but not the most forgiving, whereas the X22 you can hit it all over the face and still score (Macman will testify to this)

Wedges : Nike Victory Red

60 - 56 - 52 (bent to 50) this are spinning machines gives you great confidence to throw the ball at the hole, on the down side they do some serious damage to Pro V's

Putter : Ody 330 Mallet 33 inch

Just bought this holing everything with it again Macman will testify to this handed him a 6&5 beating yesterday)

KK

Recentlly went and test drove some new clubs tried a number of well know brands and after being measured I decided on the Nicklaus HTC irons.  Having played with them now for 4 weeks I am truely amazed at the improvement in my game, I am hitting the ball better and the extra distance allows me to take at least one club less.  My 8 iron is spot on 150 yards with a lot of consistancy, the clubs are very forgiving and my golfing partners have seen a great improvement in my short game since I have had the clubs.

Talking to a work colleague I told him what I had bought and he laught but I said go and try them he did and guess what he is now the proud owner of a new set of the same irons.

I would un-resesevedly recommend the HTC to any mid to high handicap player who wants to reduce their handicap.
