New facilities available on the Tiger Woods Tour 2009. Your chance to win a sample game

Tiger Woods may be taking time off to recover from injury but his likeness - the one that appears in the Playstation game which carries his name - is playing better than ever in the new 'Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09,' which goes on sale on August 29.

The game has several new facilities this year, including the appearance of Tiger's coach Hank Haney to assess each player's skills and give feedback after each round. Other enhancements include a 'GamerNet experience' and an online engine powering simultaneous play by upto four players.

The X Box version

We've got FIVE copies of Tiger Woods Tour 2009 to give away worth £39.98 each and available on PS3, PSP, PS2, Wii or Xbox 360.

For a chance to win one of the games all you have to do is tell us (in not more than 30 words) how the Tiger Woods Tour playstation series has helped your golf. Closing date is Friday, September 5.

Other key features of Tiger Woods Tour 2009 include the 'Club Tuner' in which the coach will help you tune your individual wedges, irons, woods and driver as strategy weighs the risks of club performance with ease of use. The the Dynamic Skills facility eliminates the chore of building your character up from scratch with skills you set at the beginning of your 'career.' Based on your performance after each round, your skills will go up and down.

A new Online Mode enables you to compete in a four person round in the same time it takes to play single player, then switch to spectator mode where you'll see your partners characters as they finish up the hole.

Exotic new locations include the Gary Player Country Club in South Africa, Wentworth in Surrey, Sheshan in China and Bay Hill in Florida, with images of Darren Clarke, Nick Dougherty and Rory McIlroy adding to the player options.

I use TW games for strategy, visualising playing to par by hitting easy shots and two putts. The last time I played TW08, the next morning I shot net 59.
Posted: 15/08/2008 16:32

I use it to demonstrate my awesome ability to hit  my 3 wood 300 yards plus off the tee but still get out drove by Mr Curry...

Its simple, it helps me choose my outfits using the gameface technology. Its like having your very own mannequin to play with at home.

The 500 hours spent playing Tiger Woods 2004 got me into golf in the first place. You can't get much more influential and helpful than that.

*ps this may not be a witty answer but it is 100% true!!*

You get to practice on premier courses before you actually play them for real (I throttle the distance percetage to 75% of TW to see where I'd actualy hit it)!

Posted: 15/08/2008 17:45

" (I throttle the distance percetage to 75% of TW to see where I'd actualy hit it)!" I reduce the clubs and tee off with a 4 iron or five wood, whatever goes about 220-230, always play for the centre with a yardage I can make in real life.

I purchased the game and as a result of playing it have invested in what I believe is the best game on the planet. Aside from the technical advantages of the game, it's an advert on the shelf for the sport in general. Young people love playing games, and the software serves to inspire them to become the champions of tomorrow - as we all watch from our nursing home beds!

After playing 6 hours a day all week long and then the wife says "why dont you do something else and get some excersise" I have the best excuse to get out on the course!

The Tiger Woods Tour playstation series has helped my golf to spiral into a downward decent due to its addictiveness. More time spent playing in than out having great fun.
Posted: 15/08/2008 21:49

It helps keep me off the Course so you lot are Safer and not held up , Plus its far easier than the real thing.

Using the joypad swing has helped show the importance of tempo whils the game in general has shown the importance of being on the fairway to score well.

Tiger Woods Tour 07 got me through rehabilitation following a Shoulder operation!

I couldn't swing a club for 8 months, it kept me Sane until I could play for real!

Posted: 16/08/2008 15:20

what tiger woods has taught me is that hitting it straight and aligment are the most important parts of golf
Posted: 16/08/2008 19:59

I'd no interest in Golf until I played Tiger Woods 07 now I watch all the Golf I can and had to get out on a real course, So everything
Posted: 17/08/2008 09:38

When on the course I imagine my putts have a grid on them like in Tiger Woods. It really helps judge the slope!
Posted: 17/08/2008 19:03

It's taught me that tapping furiously with my right index finger during my backswing is the "true" secret to raw power. Not found the button combo for spitting yet though!
Posted: 18/08/2008 09:15

My putting has improved immensely since I started taking practice putts before hitting it for real. If it's good enough for TW Tour 09, it's good enough for me!
Posted: 18/08/2008 12:33

It saves me a fortune in lost golf balls
Posted: 18/08/2008 12:42

I was thinking about that BT@home... you never lose a ball on Tiger Woods PGA Tour when it goes into the rough. it would be nice if it was like that in real life!
Posted: 18/08/2008 13:09

I can beat the wife
Posted: 19/08/2008 07:21

You'll get locked up for that Bognor!!!!
Posted: 19/08/2008 09:20

Playing Tiger Woods gives me the determination to reproduce the shots for real.  I can do it in the game so I can do it for real (thats my theory!).
Posted: 20/08/2008 10:28

You've still got a few days left to enter but thought I'd share this with Playstation devotees in the meantime:

Last year, a fan of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 posted a video of an apparent glitch in the game showing Tiger Woods walking on water. For the launch of the new game this year, EA SPORTS has responded with a real video of Tiger Woods walking on water to prove it’s not a glitch – he really is that good. ED

He's a cheat though, testing the hazard with his club !!
Posted: 22/08/2008 15:24

Its the only way i will ever hit a tee shot 400 yard, spin a ball 20 foot and putt from 50 feet for eagle, god i am good!!!!!!

Posted: 22/08/2008 20:32

He looks a little surpised that it went in ....   PGA'09
Posted: 29/08/2008 12:37

I played practice rounds at Sawgrass before I played in for real in February.

Used 2 players - one giving it full thottle a la Woods, and one playing as I'd have to play it.

When I got there it looked really familar!

Posted: 29/08/2008 12:48

Having no golfing relative, the Tiger Woods games first caused me to swing a real life club - the biggest on course improvement the games help with must be course management!

Posted: 02/09/2008 15:55

It's helped me realise that however hard I try, golf will never be as easy as playing with a PS3 controller in your hand, so I should just have fun!

It's taugh me to shout 'Fore' a good deal louder out on the course Bob, so I havent killed anyone yet.

Posted: 02/09/2008 16:33

TWPGAtour taught me golf is easy involving Ripping drivers off the fairway, deciding the spin on the ball mid-air and seeing the exact line of a putt before its hit
Posted: 02/09/2008 16:58

On the game I can try walk on water too, in fact i can do it for real !!! Honest
Posted: 02/09/2008 17:19

I can play all day any day without the risk of ever getting wet , sadly a rare occurrence in British reality , helps very much with keeping your sanity

Posted: 02/09/2008 17:41

Tiger Woods is a great game and quite addictive , but it's biggest help is encouraging you to get out there and get onto the course for real ! It's almost like a session up the range trying stuff out and then going out to try it out on the course.

European club soccer had the same effect on me as a kid with footy.

Tiger Woods though , has a more powerfull influence. It's almost like a warm up before play!

Posted: 02/09/2008 20:32

What I'm attempting to say is that encourages me to get out onto the course when perhaps I would have previously slipped into the sofa and watched a film if the weather was dicy or agreed to the family trip to Ikea. Then as i play more, i get better!

Ohh! Just got a PS3 this past weekend, purchased to play Blue Ray dvd's (Or so I told the wife ).

Winning TW09 will give me another option intead of having to play 'Lego' Indiana Jones (Our daughters game) all the time.

TW games are great in the sense that I found them quite realistic in recreating the problems of playing from the rough and the breaks you get when chipping or putting on greens. I also found the sensation of tension very similar to reality when I have to make a decisive putt to win or when I have to make over the water shots.

Well done EA for this series.

Posted: 04/09/2008 15:31

Reminds you have great looking the perfect high draw shot is off the tee! Visualisation then does wonders!

Posted: 05/09/2008 13:46

And the winners are?
