Snazzy new Scotty's

Scotty Cameron introduce a snazzy new line of putters to the UK...

Scotty Cameron putters are synonymous with the highest quality craftsmanship and precision instruments of feel, control and performance.

It is perhaps the most popular brand of putter among the world’s top players and in some people’s eyes, each one is a future collectors item that they will rarely give away.

To add to the magnificent collection of Scotty Cameron putters, Titleist have introduced a new line, the Scotty Cameron Studio Line putters to compliment their existing Pro Platinum and Teryllium II models.

Snazzy new Scotty’s

There are four models to choose from, each Milled from a solid block of mild carbon steel for soft, solid feel. They are classically styled, thin flanged blades, with a workshop crafted look and feel.

Aesthetically, they are a bit different to other Scotty Cameron lines with an all new “Dancing” logo to compliment the buffed black oxide finish and attractive paint fill scheme.

The high-toe topline design helps insure proper alignment by eliminating the common desire to raise the toe of the blade at set up. Each Studio Design sole is carefully milled with slight negative bounce to insure the putter never sits closed. The new line also features a specially designed U-shaped, arch paddle grip.

"I wanted the Studio Design line of putters to look as good as they feel," commented Cameron on his latest design. "With feedback from the best players in the world, along with my own testing in the Studio, I have been able to create just that."

A customised headcover, complete with a patented Cameron divot repair tool and headcover pocket provides the finishing touch to what promises to be one of the most unique putters in the marketplace.

The RRP of the new Studio Line is £175, the same price as the Pro Platinum. And the existing Teryllium II lines are £210 each. The Studio Line putters will begin shipping from April 2001.

GOLFmagic Rating: 9.5/10…Perhaps the best range of putters out there.

I must admit having seen the web site on collectable 'SC' putters the temptation is almost too great. The Tiger Woods red dots prototype in 'black pearl' and some of the finishes like 'gunmetal' and 'oilcan' are just fantastic. The look of these new ones makes me want to discard my old faithful Odyssey and pay big bucks just to be able to pull something out of my bag that will make opponents tremble at the sight of it. Or is this just more marketing b**ll*cks? What is the best putter in the world - and why?

yes, they look good, but it's still up to the user to hit the putt straight... Like you Alan, I have an Odyssey - some days it's unbelievable and I can't miss with it, but there again there are other days where it's (or rather I am) useless. In my opinion, you could use any straight piece of metal/wood and find that sometimes the ball will go in and sometimes it won't. I don't think a different putter would help me, so mine will be replaced when it's worn out and not before.

I guess if you have a £10 beaten up old putter with which you can sink putts, then you've got the best putter in the world - right? My trouble is that I have the beaten up old putter which seems to have an amazing propensity for lipping out.

Sevy says he could putt with a shovel and still do better than some of the players on the European Tour. Pity that because he's ovbsiously using that shovel to tee off with.

An old golfer once said to me that you always need to own more than one putter. Keep them together in the garage, never in the bag during the week. That way they know they can be replaced if the misbehave!

I have approximately 8 putters of which I use three on a regular basis. If my Scotty misbehaves, out comes the Never Compromise...If that doesn't work, out comes the other Scotty mallet, failing that, I have a "Musty" putter that the guys at the club won't let me use cos it looks like a "tree on the end of a stick"...failing that...I go fishing!
