Overall: Tried this club as a 3-iron alternative. Performed reasonably but I couldn't quite get on with the shaft. It is a good hybrid but for me I get better results with either a TaylorMade Rescue or Adams A2 Hybrid.
Strengths: Seems much more forgiving than the iron and more versitile than the fairway wood. I bought the 21 degree version which has got plenty of use from a variety of lies on long par 4s and par 5 lay ups.
Great off bare lies and semi rough. Mamangeable out of fairway bunkers too
Weaknesses: I havent used it much off the tee!
All my playing partners keep wanting to use it!
Could find a demo in my area although the UK distributor promised a 30 day money back trial.
Overall: Looks great, a super replacement for the 2 or 3 iron. DF
Strengths: Low penetrating ballflight. Never ballons. Although it shoots out low, it stops fairly quickly unlike 2 or 3 irons. High ballflight off a small tee. Perfect feel.
Weaknesses: Stock irod shaft which is excellent on full shots but is useless on half shots. A little troublesome out the thick heavy rough.
Overall: As it shoots out low, take a #4 to replace your three iron, etc.
Superb club. As with all Sonartec stuff the quality and feel is better than you'll find anywhere.
Strengths: Quality contruction. Quality shaft. Solid feel. Doesn't balloon into the wind.
Weaknesses: Upright lie. Price. Not as forgiving as most "rescue" clubs
Overall: A "major" disappointment.
I dont have a massivly flat swing, my custom fit Titeist 762's are 1 degree flat, but the upright lie and relatively uncambered sole of the MD had the heel digging in and turning all my swings into duck hooks from anything but a slight "ball above feet" lie.
The UST Irod Hybrid shaft isn't the stiffest of shaft's although it is a vast improvement on the stock shafts in many of the hybrid clubs.
A definite try-before-you-buy, I wish I had as it would have saved me a fwe quid.
Strengths: Very easy to hit from the deck. Lovely flight and good distance with soft land.
Weaknesses: None I can see
Overall: I never have taken to the new 'hybrid' breed of clubs and have tried them all.
This was the last make I was trailing before chucking the concept in the bin ! However I have fallen in love with Sonartec and have to say their kit is very high quality. Watch out this company will go places.
Strengths: The club is very forgiving, sends the ball on a really penetrating ball flight with a really solid feel. It sits very square so lining up is easy .The shaft feels great and feels very stable. I have the 21 degree which is longer than a 3-iron it is meant to replace.
Weaknesses: I use it so much around the course, my only possible criticism is it is a very hot face to chip with so i need to practice this more to get better feel.
Overall: i Use this from the tee, the fairway and rough. I am buying a second at 17 degrees which may well make my driver a par 5 only club. If you play a windy course this club is a must buy. It is at the top end price wise but having lost 3 clubs form ny bag to put in one it is well worth it. I have tried them all and nothing comes close. Seriously guys just get one!!
Strengths: Solid, feel is amazing, straight and long.
Weaknesses: Only the price
Overall: Hacing owned a few rescue clubs, Muzuno, Taylor Made etc I tried one of these picked up resonably on Ebay. The best golfing decision I ever made.
