'AWESOME VALUE, GOOD PERFORMANCE'
Strengths:
Value for money (mine cost under £30). Great shaft, nice design with a head that looks neatly compact at address, exemplary build quality.
Weaknesses:
Its shaft is longer than some hybrids, and that can make it harder to control. Hits almost too long. Only one flex of shaft, a little on the stiff side of regular.
Overall:
*** NB this review relates to the 2007 model ***
I'd been having trouble with my 5-iron so picked up a 27-degree version. The main problem is, this hits 25 yards past my 6-iron, so I still have a gap!
Very forgiving off tee and fairway. Not quite as good out of the rough, where its low COG can lead to the odd "skyer".

'EXCELLENT CLUB AND GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY.'
Strengths:
This club looks well to the eye & is very easy to hit well from tee, fairway or rough.
Weaknesses:
None.
Overall:
I got an MD Golf Black Hawk Utility Wood (2007) with 21 degree loft. I played in a competition last Friday and the club was an immediate success. I used it on 3 long par threes and hit the centre of the green on all 3. I also used it for 2nd shots on par fives from both fairway and rough and the results were excellent. Also, used it from tee to place a tee shot on a tricky par 4 tee shot and hit the middle of the fairway. I was so happy that I've now purchased the 18 degree version as well.

'GREAT VALUE UTILITY, IDEAL FOR MID-HIGH HANDICAPPERS'
Strengths:
Solid feel, pretty good shaft (I would like to know who makes it) value unequalled. Effortless out of rough.
Weaknesses:
Took a bit of getting used to, due to the weight.
Overall:
Bought the 24 degree version based on the Golf Monthly reviews. I have not been disappointed. Equal to all the top names - and better than some! Just bought the 18 degree version, hope it performs just as well. Ideal club for mid to high handicappers.

'EXCELLENT VALUE'
Strengths:
Great out of the rough with a very high ball flight.
Weaknesses:
Not particularly long.
Overall:
i love the slightly heavy feel of this club which makes me think I can power the ball out whichever area of rough I aim for with my tee shot!

'Cool name. Very hot club.'
Strengths:
Good looks and incredibly versatile. 18o version good for flat-out 220-240yds from the fairway or easily controlled shape-shots from poor lies. Penetrating flight and soft-landing.
Weaknesses:
Genuinely difficult to find a weakness.
Wasn't available with a stiff shaft and expected to have to re-shaft but haven't needed to yet!
Overall:
This is the hot-sector at the moment and everyone raves about the TM and Hogan utilities. Having tried them they're very good but this is better (and at under £40)!
IMHO only Sonartec make a better club and it's £130 more. How does that work?!!!

'VERY EFFECTIVE, INEXPENSIVE UTLITY'
Strengths:
Accurate, long, cheap, looks.
Weaknesses:
Difficult to get used to at first due to the weight of the club.
Overall:
Great club, full of surprises. Didn't know what to expect and I wasn't able to find one in a shop. However, after so many good reviews I decided to chance £40 and order one from Rotherham Golf Club without trying it. I have 21-degree version with a stiff shaft and on delivery discovered that MD Golf only make the Blackhawk, midflex. However, it works fine, even with my fast swing. I'm acheiving a constant 200 yards from both tee and fairway and it also performs a treat a from the rough. I'll expext a little more from it in the summer.

I've tried the TaylorMade rescue clubs and the Callaway Heavenwood and would struggle to justify the difference in price. This is a bargain.

'SOLID BIT OF KIT.'
Strengths:
So easy to use and inspires confidence. My 24-degree club is a direct 3-iron replacement but hits the ball on a towering flight from any lie. Try doing that with a 3-iron!
Weaknesses:
Stock shaft is a bit whippy. Cost £80 with i-rod shaft and may eventually have to fit replacement (costing about £45).
Overall:
Fantastic value. I've tried a Ram FX Rescue and TM Rescue Mid among others. Didn't like any of them. This is the real deal.
