 | | | Posted: 15/03/06 | | 'DEPENDABLE AND SOLID ALL ROUND' | | Strengths: Really easy to hit from fairway, rough and bunkers; long and accurate with it. Nice Tour Velvet grip. | | Weaknesses: Headcover without 'sock' and the face has marked up quickly but that's being very picky. Haven't really found any faults worth highlighting. | | Overall: I bought my first hybrid after I started to struggle with a steel-shafted Cobra 5-wood; it's not to replace my long irons as I hit them well. This is my third hybrid club and I got this for £75 in a sale (my value rating reflects this). I was looking to replace a hybrid that was custom made for me but I couldn't quite get the best out of it as the shaft seemed a touch soft for me. However, the stiff graphite shaft in the CLK felt right as soon as I tried a 20-degree one out on the range. The graphite element in the clubhead seems to promote, in my hands at least, a dampenedd and solid feel at impact, which I've quickly grown to really like. With this club, it gives me the 200 yard shot, and often much more, that I used to carry the 5-wood for. I now enjoy taking on long approaches that I had no confidence in before. As a result, and mentioned by another reviewer, I'm seriously debating getting a 17deg version and dropping my TM R580 3-wood as well. This is another great Mizuno club that is well worth your consideration if you're in the market for a hybrid. |
